I see cloud edge irridescence very frequently, but this is possibly the best example of large scale, full cloud irridescence I have seen in quite some time. In total, the display lasted about 45 minutes.

AC clouds
Hey Alec,
Thats some sweet looking iridescence you got there. One give want to give you a word up with the AC clouds that the iridescence form in and that is on rare occasions elliptical halos can form from the virga out of AC or when AC clouds crystallize and form the halos whenever they are covering the sun. Get your sunglasses and give it a try but make sure you got the camera ready because these halos can brief sometimes less than a minute.
Regards,
Michael

Thanks guys. I think good irridescence is possibly more prevalent than many people imagine; it's just that the glare defeats most observations. To this end I've taken to wearing welding goggles as they seem to cope with the glare better than ordinary sunglasses and the deep yellow lenses increase the contrast at the same time.
@ Michael. Funny you should mention elliptical halos as I thought I captured one the same morning. However, reviewing the series of images, if it is one then it is extremely borderline. That's why I've not posted it. I'll certainly be on the lookout for more!
