Das Verhalten des Nasa- und Boeing-Managements wird (endlich) hinterfragt:

'Sean O'Keefe, the agency's administrator, said that he had been unaware of the technical disagreements while they were occurring, but he questioned whether top managers should be routinely involved in technical issues that lie beyond their technical competence. That seems a misguided segmentation of responsibilities in an agency where a technical failure can bring operations to a halt and threaten the very survival of manned space programs.'

'One of the most troubling messages followed a prescient request from a NASA engineer for the United States Space Command to take telescopic pictures of the shuttle's tiled underside to gauge the liftoff damage. NASA official Roger D. Simpson's negative reply seemed more concerned about the request circumventing protocol and causing undue angst than about assessing the damage as thoroughly as possible.'
