New links wanted.

Beitrag von Tom Eklund » 14. Mär 2003, 11:06

Hi all,

I am looking for some new aurora picture links to my auroralinks. So, if anyone of you knows some pages that should be added in there or urls that should be updated, could you please inform me about them...via email of what ever.

I know that quite a many of you have some done "aurora traveling" in the past or just recently and i have seen quite many pictures from those trips too, but of course i have either lost the urls or just forgot to write down the urls....as always. ;-)

Best regards and clear skies,
Tom E.

Tom E.

I have a site with Aurora FAQ http://odin.gi.alaska.edu/FAQ/ , and I have a few images on line http://odin.gi.alaska.edu/lumm/Pictures/

I also maintain a page with links to realtime data that are related to space weather and the aurora in particular: http://odin.gi.alaska.edu/RealTime.html

Then there is a collection of annotated links, and the aurora section of that is it http://odin.gi.alaska.edu/lumm/bookmark ... tml#Aurora

You may also include a link to the Poker Flat "Ashaii Beer presentation" (Ashaii sponsered the design of the pages) at http://gedds.pfrr.alaska.edu/aurora/ or to the Poker Flat aurora page: http://www.pfrr.alaska.edu/aurora/INDEX.HTM

Finally, there is a temporay web page (I am not sure how long we will keep that active and available) associated with a rocket campaign that is currently going on. We didn't launch in the first window, so there will be a second window starting March 19. I have a camera at Toolik Lake (north of the Brooks Range in Alaska) and post images from there whenever I think there is something to show (it might be just to show that there is no aurora). That link is at http://gedds.pfrr.alaska.edu/toolik/

Here is a bit of an explanation for those images: There are images from a Nikon (D100) color camera (green links), and some from a b/w intensified TV system (blue links). The Nikon images have a typical exposure time of 6 seconds, the b/w TV images have 33 ms exposure time, and have pretty poor spatial resolution and are noisy because of the intensifier. The images that are there are form the first window, starting March 19 there will be more images coming. Most of the images there are not taken for their artistic value, but have a predetermined look direction, as we need to look at the spot where the rocket will fly through.
