Hi
There were many observations last night in the Netherlands.
I observed with the other Jan in the polder region north of Amsterdam. In the field we had contact with other observers south of Amsterdam, near Utrecht, in Steenwijk (Drenthe)and Twello (Overijssel). The observation south of Amsterdam is interesting because it was done near Schiphol Airport ovelooking light polluted Amsterdam.
I took some pretty pictures (I hope) of aurora behind a Dutch windmill next to a canal.
"Funny Story"
As Jan and me started to put down our tripods, the millers wife came out of the mill to investigate who we were.
It was a nice conversation and then we went into the field. After 15 minutes she came out again to tell us we were invited to come in the mill after we finished our photographing business. This was because the miller wanted to show us his photographs that he took of the mill with aurora a few years ago (probably 12 April 2001)...
And I thought I would be the first at last in Holland to shoot a mill with aurora...
Oh well, we were still in the field when their lights went out but I must visit them soon to have a look.
Let's hope for a good night to-night also.
I haven't seen all the pictures and movies but I hope someone will make a linkpage so I can enjoy at ease next week.
Clear Skies To-Nite !!!

Re: many observations in the Netherlands + funny story
Hey Jan, nice to read something from other people in the Netherlands. I drove out from Amsterdam to the dam between Lelystad and Enkhuizen last night. There's absolutely no light pollution there, something that's become very rare in NL. Anyway, the show was spectacular, stayed there until three in the morning.

PIC Link problem?
There seems to be a problem with the underscore between 'poollicht' and 'nl'
If you copy the link and paste it in your browser it will work fine.
cheers
