vor einer guten Stunde habe ich ihn mit der CCD-Kamera am 12,5''-Spiegel erwischt. Die Aufnahmen sind je 1 min belichtet. Alle 2 min habe ich eine neue Aufnahme gestartet. Zur Zeit ist er nach eigenen Messungen ca. 15m8 hell, er soll aber noch etwa 12m werden, steht dann aber schon sehr weit südlich in der Wasserschlange

This is a great animation!

You could even make some money out of this shot by selling it to a stock footage agency. TV stations really like this sort of images when they are low on news and an asteroid is "almost impacting earth".

I hope you made it home safe, it is cold indeed. But that cold bicycle ride makes the image even more beautiful

from the 20 march...
was nice to see it!
but with my 58k Modem it was a real time to wait for until
the movie starts: i got it with 3,600 bites/sek.

Yes, with a normal modem these movies are slow to load indeed. I'm only putting DivX compressed movies on my site in the future. Beside that the size of the movie is much smaller than a GIF animation, the quality is much better also. The subtle colors are much better.

And yes, Jupiter is very bright here also. Last month I was on Terschelling and Jupiter was so bright it felt like a huge light shining on me. We heard on the news that southern Germany had -45 Celsius recently. So minus 10 isn't so bad, is it. And if you get cold, you can always tryy and get warm in a refrigerator, the temperature in there is higher than outside....

But yes, it is very cold. Unless there is a major display I'll stay inside.
