It was quite a fascinating sight. A horseshoe around the moon with a straight line across the opening of the horseshoe which closed it in.It was very clear without any stars but one in the area and it was close to the moon. The horseshoe encircled the moon however it was at a far distance from the moon but looked to be the same distance in every direction. I dont know if it were an aurora or not but found it interesting.
I found this sight while searching the net to see if I could figure out what we saw.Thank you.

... keine schlechte Beschreibung, da konnte gar kein Zweifel aufkommen, worum es sich handelte. Das war offenbar ein guter Beobachter, der nur halt keine Ahnung hatte, was es so fuer Lichtphaenomene gibt.
