It's difficult to make a forecast, but in fact in July you can watch NLC from your location several times a week (if it's not cloudy).
Check out the measurments from LIDAR ( http://128.39.135.20/rmr/campaign.summer/00index.htm ) - if there are NLC you should go out and check the sky for NLC.

Maybe little help...

Sorry Ludvig, I don't know...
...the ALOMAR Lidar showed some NLC-detection at noon, but now there are no current measurements (it stopped 18:35utc).

Maybe another possibility could be to have a look at some "PMSE-Radar-Echoes", for example "ALWIN".
http://www.iap-kborn.de/radar/Radars/AL ... toring.htm
(PMSE=Polar Mesospheric Summer Echoes; often PMSE and NLC occur together - but not always!!)
That is not so easy to explain in a few words. Maybe have a try and find out more by yourself! This field is new for me, too...
If there are strong echoes, I think there could be a good chance especially in that direction (of the radar). But if there are no or weak echoes, of course there can be (strong) NLC in another direction...
The weblink below gives you some more weblinks to latest measurements and the location of the instruments.
Regards, Olaf
Not to forget:
Nice images, Ludvig and Mats!
