Norwegian magnetometers show substorm in progress

Beitrag von jan lameer » 3. Aug 2003, 21:43

Hi Peter !

It seems a substorm indeed is happening over Norway. Time seems O.K.; 10:30 U.T. (halb elf wintertime) is the normal time for a break up to occur.
I'd say this one should be visible as from northern Netherlands or Germany, thoug weak.
From Terschelling I'd say this would be a weak silverish glow up to 25 degrees with occasionally red and yellow beams visible.
Photographically I'd say blue N2 sunlit aurora up to 40 degrees.

But I'm in Amsterdam. Thanks for the alert, your SAM seems to be working great ...

to Peter: your SAM is off-line

> Hi Peter !

I posted a message also on the STD forum about the Norwegian activity and added a link to your recent SAM diagram. But as of 01 hours local I noticed that the diagram is gone. I suppose that you went to sleep and unplugged the live feed.

Oh well, perhaps you can add the diagram again when you find the time to do so.
I enjoyed very much seeing your site and also what you do during the day-time. It is good that you didn't set up SAM in your workplace; all that steel, electrons and photons flying around ... :-)

warm greetings, jan lameer
