LAST UPDATE: 18 MARCH 2002, 13:05 UTC (8:05 am EST 18 March):
An interplanetary shock front was observed passing the ACE spacecraft near
12:31 UTC on 18 March. This is presumably the anticipated arrival of the
coronal mass ejection that was observed on 15 March. The potential for minor
auroral substorming exists over the next 24 to 36 hours. There is a definite
chance for periods of widespread middle latitude auroral activity during
this time frame.
