Last Update: 08 October 2002, 18:30 UTC (2:30 pm EDT 08 October):
A middle latitude auroral activity WATCH is active. The Earth is currently
passing through a coronal hole based disturbance in the solar wind.
Available LASCO data do not indicate the presence of a CME from the major
flare of 05 October. However, data during the flare event does suggest a
slow moving CME may have been involved. There is, therefore, still a chance
the Earth may see some effects of this activity over the next 24 hours which
could (if observed) slightly reintensify activity. If nothing is observed, a
general quieting trend will likely persist.
