Hi,
der X1.6er hat u.a. auch auf dem Magnetogramm von Honolulu/Hawaii seine Spuren hinterlassen. Gegen 1.00 UT ist ein deutlicher Sprung in den Kurven zu erkennen. Man nennt so ein Ereignis 'Crochet'.

I guess the front will arrive on Saterday afternoon and I wouldn't be surprised to see a small moon siccle on the western horizon while on the eastern horizon a major substorm starts.

Smells like April 6/7 2000 (and the flare smells like March 2001)

X-FLARE: A powerful X1.6 category solar flare erupted above sunspot 9661 at 0105 UT on October 19th. The eruption triggered a strong radio blackout across Asia and Australia.

A major class X1.6 solar flare was observed from Region 9661 at 01:06 UTC on
19 October. This event was associated with a heavily Earthward-directed full
halo coronal mass ejection. Very early preliminary estimate (likely to be
revised later this UTC day) is for an impact early in the UTC day of 21
October. Periods of auroral storming may be observed thereafter. A middle
latitude auroral activity watch will likely be issued later this UTC day for
this anticipated event.

Nou Jan,

Daar is nog veel voor nodig hoor. Allereerst was die 6/7 april een heldere avond, nu is er een goede kans op wolkenvelden....
De laatste paar keer zag het er bovendien heel goed uit en liep het met een sisser af, tenzij je blij wordt van een aurora die alleen op foto's met een belichtingstijd van 10 minuten of zo goed te zien is....

Wel handig dat het in het weekeinde komt, kan ik tenminste uitslapen.
Maar eerst een fietstochtje van 12-14 km naar vrouwenpolder, waar het naar het noorden toe goed donker is..

Vanaf morgen wordt het weer veel naar de zonnenwind kijken en zien wanneer de schokgolf arriveert. Ik zag trouwens nog weinig over de richting van de vlam, hoewel 9661 natuurlijk goed strategisch gepositioneerd is.
