Finally a clip for APPAVA (too late?)

Beitrag von jan lameer » 2. Jan 2002, 00:08

Hi Sven

I finally succeeded in making a clip for Appava.
It is located at
http://www.angelfire.com/movies/timelap ... umclip.avi

it is a 19 seconds clip size 1.2 MB
Compression with DivX, that works really well, thanks for the tip.

I hope you can still use it for your DVD. The optimism that I started editing with faded after a hard disk crash (disk 99.97 % full) and other smaller problems that I encountered. But I am glad that the Appava project is in good progress, it must be an enormous amount of work.

There will be a new webpage featuring this clip soon. It is still an experimental result.
The clip is made from 31 negatives, each exposed for three minutes at 16 mm f/3.5 on 3200 ISO in the morning of 23 December 2000 from Terschelling, Netherlands 53.3N 5.3E.

Greetings, Jan L

Hi Jan!
Congratulation on your really beautiful work.
Well done!
I think Sven has left some space for such a nice animation.
Btw, I can't even imagine how the animation of a major display would look like? Are you planing to do one?
Happy New Year to you and your folks

Ulrich

Hi Jan!

Cool Animation, that looks really great. Luckily, I have still a little free space, so I think your animation will have a place on the CD. Thanks again, Sven

Thanks for the compliments and I am very glad the clip gets a place on the Appava disk.
And yes Ulrich, I am planning this spring aurora season during overcast nights to scan and animate the other filmclips that I have still in the can:
- 2000 April 6/7 one wide angle fisheye shot of red curtain forming overhead (80 frames) and two shots 100 frames each of yellow beams forming against green and red curtains (24 mm wide angle)

- 2000 November xx weak display 200 frames 24 mm

- 2001 February xx red curtain over the horizon with yellow beams and some green forming 200 frames (5 hours long)

- 2001 April 11/12 two or three shots each of 250 frames of the major display.

Just last weekend someone from a film production company offered assistance if I want to record the digitized shots to cinema projection 35 mm. That would be nice, who knows, perhaps coming Christmass in a cinemea near you as a short film before the main feature?

Greetings, JanL
